SimChoices is used with students, so privacy isn't an afterthought. This policy explains what we collect, what we deliberately don't, and the control you keep over your data.

In plain terms

We collect the minimum we need to run the studio and to show educators how their experiences are being played. We never sell personal data, and we never use student activity to build advertising profiles. Play analytics are anonymous by default.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name, email and the type of institution you selected, so we can give you a workspace and contact you.
  • Content you create — the scenes, choices, text and media that make up your experiences.
  • Usage of the studio — basic, aggregated information about which features are used, to help us improve them.

Student & player data

When someone plays a published experience, we record anonymous play events — which paths were chosen, completion, and time spent — so educators can see how a lesson performed. By default this does not include names, logins or device identifiers.

If you choose to enable named or class-linked results, that data belongs to you, the educator or institution. We process it on your behalf and align with school-data expectations such as FERPA and the GDPR. We do not use student data to train models or to advertise.

How we use information

  • To operate the studio and deliver published experiences.
  • To show you analytics about your own experiences.
  • To respond to support and accessibility requests.
  • To keep the service secure and to meet our legal obligations.

Who we share with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run SimChoices (such as hosting and email delivery), under contracts that require them to protect it. We do not sell personal data to anyone. We may disclose information if required by law.

Your rights & controls

  • Access, correct or export the data held in your account.
  • Delete an experience and its associated play data at any time.
  • Request deletion of your account and personal information.
  • Keep analytics anonymous, or turn them off entirely.

Retention

We keep your account and content while your account is active. Anonymous play analytics are retained to give you historical trends; you can clear them per experience. When you delete an account, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain it to meet a legal obligation.
